Finishing Technician (MB)

SUMMARY:  As part of Continental Diamond Tool's Finishing Department you will be responsible for the final machining and grinding of products, including tasks such as turning, milling, drilling, grinding, and polishing. This role requires maintaining quality and safety standards, equipment, and tooling, as well as keeping accurate records.

HOURS:
1st shift hours are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

DUTIES:

  • Read, understand, and follow work orders and engineering drawings (GD&T).

  • Inspect products using scales, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, comparators, and other equipment.

  • Operate manual lathes, mills, and various grinding machines.

  • Select proper work holding and tooling for optimal productivity.

  • Complete all Metal Bond orders.

  • Achieve ±0.0005” tolerances on forms and required geometry.

  • Recognize, troubleshoot, and correct noncompliant products.

  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, and properly using and maintaining PPE.

  • Meet standard productivity requirements.

  • Report time and material in ERP systems.

  • Perform other duties as required independently.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Safely run and use required equipment

  • Correctly and accurately inspect product using required measuring equipment

  • Required to read and understand work instructions, paperwork, and drawings

  • High school diploma, GED, trade school, or apprenticeship.

PREFERRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Excellent manual dexterity.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

  • 5+ years of manual machining experience.

  • 2+ years of CNC experience.

  • CAD experience preferred.

  • Experience with machining composites and metallurgy.

  • Management or supervisor experience preferred.

  • Welding or soldering experience.

  • Metrology experience.

  • Problem solving.

  • High level of interpersonal communication skills.

  • Good computer skills; excel, word, ERP systems.

  • Excellent attention to detail and sound judgment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.

  • Stand for long periods of time

  • Regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs.
