Diamond Grinder/Lapper
SUMMARY: To finish grind, within drawing requirements/tolerances, diamond roll profiles, bores and faces. Machines to be utilized are various grinders such as ring grinders, surface grinders, cylindrical grinders and Universal Heald grinders. Maintaining quality and safety standards; maintaining equipment and tooling; keeping records.
HOURS: 1st shift hours are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
JOB DUTIES:
Read, understand, and follow work orders and engineering drawings.
Measures and verifies settings and parts by utilizing; Projector, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, height gages, indicators and other measuring equipment as needed.
Operate various grinding machines in the department
Selects tools and grinding wheels for optimum productivity
Selects/Creates work holding for optimum productivity
Regularly hold required tolerance
Produce customer inspection reports
Meet standard productivity requirements
Report time and material in manufacturing systems
Perform other duties as required
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Safely run and use required equipment
Correctly and accurately inspect product using required measuring equipment
Required to read and understand work instructions, paperwork and drawings
PREFERRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
Strong mechanical aptitude
Maintain required tolerances
1+ years of grinding/related experience
Functional and technical skills
Excellent communication skills
Basic computer skills; excel, word
Attention to detail and have sound judgment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Prolonged standing
Regularly required to stoop, kneel, or crouch
Regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs
Regularly exposed to grease, oils, noise, and coolant/mist.
